When I have to write down my hobbies or favorites, along with running or paddle boarding. I always add traveling.

Visiting new places. Exploring. Adventures. The beauty of God’s creation. The talents bestowed on humans. Brings me a peace. A satisfaction.

I breathe in. Sit. Observe.

But so many times in the past. My brain was loud. Scattered. And it was very difficult to completely be present. To take it all in. Only for a short time I could focus. Sit. Observe. Breathe. Before I had to move. Walk around. Anxiety setting in. Because I had been in one place too long.

The first time I truly remember being able to relax and be present traveling is on our cruise. A few years ago. Not completely. But for exceptionally longer than ever before.

One thing. For me. One of my ways to decompress when traveling. As I’ve gotten older. Is writing.

In the beginning. Journaling. Through Europe. Antidotes. Memories. Impressions.

But it has changed. Grown.

The last year or two. It’s become more of what I’m learning. As I travel. What I see. How God uses my surroundings. Nature or history. People. Past or present. To teach me new things. About myself. About life.

So I sit. And write. Sometimes on my phone. Like right now. Other times. In my journal.

It is for me to process. So many things. Reflect on all the things my senses picked up on.

Traveling. Writing. For me. Go hand in hand now.
